WHY

Why

Remember the days when almost every other word out of a child’s mouth was why? “Why are some apples red and some green?” “Why do I have to clean up my toys?” “Why do I have get those shots so I can have fun at camp?”

Sometimes it was a toss-up between why and no.

The why’s change in the teenage years – “why can’t I go out with Johnny?” “Why do I have to be in by midnight?” “Why do I have to turn the music down?”

The why’s in adult years are frustrating but can also be amusing.

Why is there such a difference in generic drugs and name-brand drugs? If there’s a more economical substitute, why do doctors prescribe the expensive one?

Why do I feel cold and shiver whenever I have a fever?

Why do my fingers and toes wrinkle after being in the water? Nothing like looking like a prune when you come out of the pool.

Why do people drive so fast only to slow down at a stoplight? Usually, by the time the light has changed, I’m right behind them.

Why do I yawn continuously while reading but when I turn the light out to go to sleep, I’m wide awake?

Why are commercials so much louder than the actual TV show? I’m sure it’s because people tend to run to the kitchen or bathroom during the commercial breaks but what about the wear on the volume button of the remote?

When you’re de-cluttering, and throw something that you haven’t used in three years away, why do you suddenly need it a week later?

I’m trying to get organized but it seems the harder I try to keep things straight, the harder it is to remember where I put something? If I’d left it on the messy desk, I would have found it in seconds.

On the flip side, if people would just put things away after they use them, they’d spend less time trying to remember where they used it last.

The “getting organized why” prompted my thinking about this. Sometimes, I’m trying to do three things at once and it’s frustrating when I want to post something about what I read but can’t remember where I filed the article.

Do you have any irritating or amusing “why’s”?
